On Avenida B, one of the most emblematic streets in Panama’s Casco Antiguo and very close to the historic Puerta de Tierra, stands Casa Regina, a historic building constructed in the first decade of the 20th century.
In his study titled El Casco Antiguo de Panamá, Panamanian architect and historian Eduardo Tejeira Davis describes the building’s architectural style as a modernized colonial tradition with classicist elements on the façade, a characteristic typical of the period.
During the 20th century, much of the city’s old colonial wall was partially demolished to allow for the expansion of the San Felipe neighborhood. As a result, new constructions were built in the surrounding area and even on top of the wall itself, as in the case of Casa Regina, whose rear wall rests on a section of the old city wall, integrating it with this important heritage element.
The history of Casa Regina’s residents is also significant. Its original owner was Pacífico Vega, a Panamanian landowner who was one of the principal financiers of the Liberal cause during the Thousand Days’ War. In 1937, the property temporarily passed into the hands of the National Bank of Panama before being acquired by the Morales Pérez family, who owned it for several decades.
Casa Regina represents cultural heritage and architecture in a privileged location: a unique investment opportunity in Casco Antiguo. More than a century later, it is ready for the next chapter of its history to be written, and Compañía Inmobiliaria San Felipe is proud to be part of this process.
