Due to the type of openings and skylights in this beautiful building, it is estimated that the construction dates back to 1870. In 1883, engineer Jules Dingler, chief engineer of the Compagnie Universelle du Canal Interocéanique, moved into the building.
Once the United States took over the construction of the interoceanic canal, it continued to serve as the residence of the chief engineer. John Wallace, the first authority of the U.S. canal company, lived there at the beginning of the 20th century. Later, the first headquarters of the U.S. embassy or “Legation” in Panama was established on the property.
The design consisted of 8 apartments and a commercial space, which currently houses our offices, from where we provide rental, purchase, and sales services for properties in Casco Antiguo.
